Locked Out offers eight auto locksmith services in Wigan, and every price below is a starting price that changes with the make, the model, the year, the key type and whether a working key is left.
A new key cut and programmed to the car when no working key is left, and the lost key is removed from the car memory so it no longer starts the engine.
A second key copied from your working key, then cut and programmed at the car while you wait.
Entry to the car with opening tools when the keys are locked inside, without forcing the door or the lock.
Transponder keys, remote keys and keyless smart keys paired to the car with dealer level programmers.
Standard and laser cut blades cut from your key, from the key code or by decoding the door lock.
A snapped blade removed from the door lock or the ignition, with a new key cut when the old one cannot be used again.
A replacement ignition barrel fitted and coded to your keys when the ignition is worn, jammed or damaged.
Van keys, motorbike keys and fleet vehicles are covered in the same way, and the price is set by the key the vehicle needs.
Every price is confirmed on the phone before anyone drives out, and no call out fee is added anywhere inside the 25 mile radius.
A Locked Out visit follows three steps, from the first phone call to a working key in your hand.
Give the make, model, year and registration of the car, where it is parked and whether any working key is left.
No further proof is needed when the car is at the home address of the owner. Anywhere else, a driving licence or the V5C logbook is checked before any key is made.
The key is cut in the van, programmed to the car and tested on the doors and the ignition before the job is finished.
A mobile auto locksmith, a main dealer and a breakdown service differ on where the work is done, what it costs and how long the driver waits for a working key.
| Point | Mobile auto locksmith | Main dealer | Breakdown service |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the work is done | At your car | At the dealership | At the roadside |
| New key with every key lost | Starting from £135, no VAT | Commonly £250 to more than £400, VAT included | No key made, the car is recovered to a garage or dealer |
| Spare key | Starting from £80 at your car | Ordered, then programmed at the dealership | Not offered |
| Locked out with the keys inside | Starting from £80 | Not offered at the roadside | Often included with breakdown cover |
| Time to a working key | Usually one visit | A few days to a few weeks when the key is ordered | Depends on the recovery and the dealer |
For a lost key, a mobile auto locksmith is usually the faster and cheaper choice, and the guide to replacing a lost or broken car key sets out the details to have ready before you call.
